FASHION CONFESSION 1
It was a Friday night after my regular job, when I walked in Urban Outfitters with a sole purpose of buying ‘something’'. For a split second I felt a fashion freedom that led me to my purchase. It was a freedom that I usually don’t experience when I shop for clothes. Most of the time, I go with a purpose of buying clothes for work, or a night out or for an upcoming vacation. This time was different. It felt like clearing my mind with meditation. I just dived in and let my instinct and creativity drive me. I picked a few pieces just because they caught my eye, mixed them together and voila, a lewk! I just simply wasn’t worried about the mesh top being too sheer if I wanted to wear it for work, or will I be too cold in it. I just simply went for it. It’s not that I am being careless about what I spend my money on, but instead it felt like an exploration. I can’t say that I’ve discovered something incredible yet, other than just a moment of freedom. I also can’t say that this experience hasn’t open a new chapter on how I look at fashion. It is so easy to loose your personal style in a world of Instagram-inspired outfits that all look alike. I admit, it is a battle that I’ve been fighting since I started posting outfit photos every day. It’s easy to loose a sense of personal style when you start choosing items that are trendy over the ones that speak to you personally. It’s insane to think about how we all talk about authenticity but we all follow the same patterns. I do strive towards showing authenticity, and sometimes I get lost, sometimes I have to relearn things, but sometimes I need to shut down all my senses and follow my instincts. I believe that’s where I find my authentic style.
